December Adventure Plan

1. Read a short story or chapter of a book every day - I’ve got a pile of books that I haven’t got round to read and will possibly get some more as gifts at Christmas - also its nice to balance out a day by reading something.
2. Coding wise the goal is to mainline the Samsung A5 (2017) smart phone, known as a5y17lte. Currently it runs postmarketOS but with the lineage downstream kernel which is 3.8.140, its so old that netfilter doesn’t even seem to work.

Project

So the joy of December Adventure is that its fairly relaxed, so on day 1 the only thing I achieved was signing up for December Adventure.

Reading

I read ‘A Scent of Green’ which is a an awesome solarpunk style short story by Ana Sun in her short story collection Futures to Live By. It is a short story about communities finding common ground to share ideas and concepts as well as build relationships, the main location is a community based in previous eco resort which I imagined being sort of like the Eden Project. Anyway I’d really recommend the story (and the collection as well). Ana Sun is on mastodon and her book was included in one of my favourite pastimes of ordering books promoted by authors on mastodon and then forgetting about them until they arrive.
