Project
Finally managed find some time to work on the a5y17lte - it was time to attempt the very challenging soldering. I’ve replaced my flux which make a big difference and I was able to tin the pads relatively easyily. Using very small enamalled wire and my phone camera on zoom as a sort of microscope I was managed to solder to pads 1 (rx) and 2 (tx) however as I was then gluing the wires down the wire to pad 1 immediately fell off. I’ve tested the tx line and I get serial data out. It does leave me in a prediciment, it would be awesome to have the rx line so I could enter commands over serial but do I risk trying to solder in the wire but could then destroy it all, or do I stick with what I’ve got as serial out is super useful. Currently on the side of sticking.

Reading
Managed to squeeze in a little bit of time reading, continued working through Future to Live By and read “Emily’s Farewell Coat”, I wasn’t initially sure about this one but came to really quite enjoy it, I think I liked the concept of a Textile Collective as a workers organisation who recycled any textile and the way they would work and support their local community - I sometimes wonder if I would like to work in a collective, as always its the same internal barriers of “no time” and “I haven’t found anyone local”.
