Project
Current work has been on finishing off the hardware for my development setup. Ideally I don’t want to be move the phone around too much as the serial line is super delicate. I’ve added in a new power button and so moved onto focus on the volume buttons, using an old a5y17lte which I have for parts I removed the volume buttons and found they were simple push buttons on a flex pcb. There are 2 solder pads on each button and after scraping off the plastic coating I was able to solder in wires and another push button.
I also 3d printed a case for the dev board so that the exposed back is less likely to get damaged, my plan is to simply glue the buttons to the sides to keep it simple, I also will attach the usb-serial adapter with a blob of glue to add a bit more strain relief.

Reading
My latest short story I’ve read was Coriander, its the second to last story in the collection I’m reading, I really enjoyed this story but perhaps not for main themes, to me the interest was in the slow travel concept, that the main character has taken a period of time outside their life to travel by boat to a place and then plans to stay there for a prolonged period of time. This feels so outside my life which is a standard day to day existance with daily commitments, its a nice idea to have the space to do something like this and not have to rush.
